"The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."This blog is simply a way for those of us who respond to such an idea to stay in touch and encourage each other.

Versions of this passage from Mark's Gospel appear also in Matthew (22:36-40) and in Luke (10:27).
Speaking of loving the Lord with all my heart, and mind, and soul and strength, and my neighbor as myself, I think of one of many hymns on this theme by Charles Wesley, Jesu, Thy Boundless Love. Here are the first two verses; they make a good prayer, too:
Jesu, Thy boundless love to me
No thought can reach, no tongue declare:
O, knit my thankful heart to Thee,
And reign without a rival there.
Thine wholly, Thine alone I am:
Be Thou alone my constant flame.
O, grant that nothing in my soul
May dwell but Thy pure love alone:
O, may Thy love possess me whole,
My joy, my treasure, and my crown.
Strange fires far from my soul remove,
My every act, word, thought, be love.
